That's right, Uganda! My husband and I are part of a team of about 25 people from our church who are heading to Uganda this summer to help build a school for the Watoto Orphanage! We are really excited to be a part of this trip - Watoto is an awesome organization for children in Uganda who have lost their parents to war or disease. Not only are the children cared for and their physical needs are met, but they live in a home in a family setting with a house mother and 7 other children so they learn how to respect their families and women. Watoto is dedicated to meeting the children's needs, showing them God's love, and teaching them to respect one another so that they may grow up to be effective, strong leaders who will make good decisions. Have you seen The Last King of Scotland? Watoto's goal is to prevent dictatorships like that from happening by raising compassionate, educated leaders in Uganda - pretty cool!

So what does this have to do with Kudzu Cookies?! Kudzu Cookies is sponsoring a fundraiser for the team! As you can imagine, the building materials for the school aren't free - in fact, they'll run about $17,000. From now until Father's Day, Kudzu Cookies will donate 100% of our profits towards the building materials for the orphange.
